TandemTerms of service
These terms cover Tandem's apps for Android and Windows, this website, and Tandem AI. Tandem is made and sold by Jakob Maynard, doing business as Maynard Software ("we", "us"). By using Tandem you agree to these terms. Questions: support@tandemtasks.app.
Using Tandem
- Tandem is meant for adults: you must be 18 or over to use it.
- Signing in is optional. If you sign in with Google to sync or to use Tandem AI, keep your Google account secure; you're responsible for what's done with your Tandem account.
- On Android, Tandem is sold through Google Play for a one-time price, and Google Play's terms also apply. On Windows, the app is free.
Your content
Your lists, tasks, chats, memories and photos are yours. You give us permission to store and process them only as needed to provide Tandem: to sync them if you turn sync on, and to send what Juniper needs to the AI you choose. Our privacy policy explains what goes where.
Juniper and AI
- Juniper's replies come from AI models and can be wrong or incomplete. Check anything important before relying on it; decisions you make with Juniper's help are your own.
- With your own API key, you use your own account with Anthropic or Google, and their terms apply to it.
- Report a harmful or wrong reply from its menu ("Report reply").
Tandem AI plans
- Tandem AI is Juniper on Tandem's own AI account, with no API key needed. It's offered as monthly plans (see pricing), each with a monthly allowance of AI use. Settings → AI shows how much of the month you've used. When it's used up, Tandem AI pauses until the plan renews, or you can upgrade.
- Plans renew automatically each month until you cancel. Cancel any time; your plan runs to the end of the month already paid.
- On Android, plans are bought through Google Play: an upgrade starts at once (Google Play charges the difference for the rest of the month) and a smaller plan starts at the next renewal.
- On Windows, our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders on Windows; Paddle provides customer service for those orders and handles returns, and Paddle's buyer terms also apply. A change of plan on Windows starts at once, and Paddle charges or credits the difference.
- Refunds follow our refund policy.
- We may change plans or prices. A price change applies from your next renewal after we tell you, and the store's own rules for price changes apply.
- We work to keep Tandem AI available, but it can be paused or unavailable at times (for maintenance, or when our AI provider is). Your own API key and the on-device AI work regardless.
Acceptable use
Don't use Tandem or Tandem AI to break the law or to harm others, or in ways Anthropic's usage policy forbids. Don't use Tandem AI outside Tandem's apps, try to get around its limits, share your account to do so, or interfere with Tandem's services. We may suspend Tandem AI for an account that does; if we do for a reason other than misuse, we'll refund the unused part of the month.
Ending
You can stop using Tandem at any time, and delete your account in Settings → Account & sync or by asking us. Deleting your account doesn't cancel a Tandem AI plan by itself: cancel it in Google Play or with Settings → AI → Manage subscription.
Disclaimers
Tandem is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no warranties, express or implied, including about merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy or uninterrupted availability. Keep your own copies of anything you can't afford to lose.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost data or profits, and our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us for Tandem in the 12 months before it. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that can't be waived.
Changes
If these terms change, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date. If a change is significant, we'll also tell you in the app before it applies.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Nebraska, USA, apart from its conflict-of-law rules. If you're a consumer, you also keep the protection of the laws of the country where you live.
